IMT - INTEGRATED MANUAL THERAPY
An evolving blend of therapeutic and manual techniques in a treatment room setting.
IMT includes:
- Musculoskeletal assessment and Mobilisation - correcting and aligning you structurally, mobilising joints, correcting muscle firing patterns and acupuncture for muscle release.
- Acupuncture. I utilise three styles of Acupuncture. The major technique used is Dry Needling to release trigger points and deep fascial restrictions. Traditional therapy is also applied when needed or requested for a systemic treatment- to de-stress; ease a cold; harmonise the body. Five Element Acupuncture is another tool available in the clinic for settling or re-setting the system and reducing the emotional strain often present.
- Massage - once you are mobile and balanced structurally - Remedial Massage (Deep tissue, Myofascial Release and Acupressure) and Tunia (Chinese Massage) is used to release residual muscle tightness and aids the process of moving you towards 'ideal' posture.
- Stretching and Exercise Therapy - you will be stretched both on and off the table and you will be given stretches and exercises to do. You are expected to do your exercises and stretches as prescribed to maintain and re-train (retain!) your posture between treatments and to reduce the times you need to return to the clinic.
IMT looks at the whole picture. You may come in with headaches, shoulder pain, foot pain, stiffness, rounded shoulders - it doesn't matter why you come - when you do we look at everything. The assessment looks at how you currently stand, sit and move and we will explain what we see and why you can't move properly - stand straight - or experience the pain/problems you currently deal with. We will explain what your treatment involves and why enabling you to see the benefit of your stretching and exercise prescription. If you know why you have been given specific exercises and/or lifestyle changes, and what the benefits/ goals are for doing so you will be happy to do them, which means you help yourself and you don't need to keep coming back.
Private Sessions:
One on one or group sessions can be made Mon- Fri when I am in Sydney. All participants must do a full initial assessment prior to starting sessions, this enables us to guide you (and push you) in the best and most appropriate manner every session..
Sessions can include any of the CST components (Intu-Flow- Prasara Yoga- FLow Fit training- Clubbell swinging); posture focused training for body awareness, Stretch Therapy or setting a home Stretch program, Posture Plus remedial style programming or lifestyle management.
Workshops:
We are flexible on location or, you can come to The Posture Centre. Workshops can be as short as 1hr or 2hrs, up to full day, or even a series of 3-6 sessions. We will arrange the workshop to your needs and desires and include anything from basic body awareness to the full Posture Plus program, to a stretch and relax session, to a dynamic CST session.
